Welcome
to the Master of Education Program at Covenant College.

The Master of Education Program (M.Ed.) at Covenant College provides a Christian community for graduate study over the course of three consecutive years. The program began in 1991 and gained accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in December, 1994. One of the attractive features of the M.Ed. program at Covenant College is that students are in residence on campus for three weeks in the summer, an aspect of graduate work that is becoming very rare. In addition to the learning that occurs during regular coursework, students have the unique opportunity to discuss and deliberate during this time of on-campus community.

The M.Ed. academic year consists of a pre-campus session beginning in the spring, an on-campus session in late June and early July, and a post-campus session lasting into the fall. The pre-campus assignments require students to prepare for the on-campus session by reading books and articles, collecting information, and writing reflectively. By the time everyone arrives for the three week on-campus session, meaningful discourse about the nature of education is possible. Students grapple together to work out their faith and calling as teachers and administrators in a Christian, public, or private school setting. Additionally, students share their lives, their thoughts, and their plans resulting in an international support network with their fellow classmates. Finally, during the post-campus work, students take what they have learned back to their local schools for a final project or paper creating a wonderful combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application.
